GW2 Cinematic Idea
I thought it would be a cool idea if in GW2 you could have more than one person in your party talk in a cinematic. Also if two or more could talk to each other in the cinematic.
Of course if you are playing solo you could have a henchmen or a Hero talk in place of that party member.
So what does everyone think?

I think that the Gw2 rants should be made AFTER the release, as many ideas may be in the process of implementation by the Dev team because they've already been suggested 100 times.

It would be better to have whole teams involved in the cinematic somehow. It's strange having the top person on the list as the 'leader' when you're all doing the exact same quests and missions... Besides, it's nice seeing your own character having some involvement, instead of just standing demurely behind some meathead.

How am I ranting?
Its a suggestion, and of course you could say that line about any suggestion made here in the sanitarium.

Well this is the kind of suggestion that does need to be suggested before the release of GW2, since it would have to go into the design stages, and is unlikely to be something they'd change after release....

They can't say 'We can't we are doing GW2', and then do not listen about GW2 suggestions, after all.
This is precisely the worst thing about GW cinematics. The 'single player feel', you join a party, and only the leader gets the laurels, and you can only replay the scene in GW, so you can't see how it would be as you being the 'hero that saves the day'.
On top of that, how come the characters never talk between themselves? But the leader look like a crazy parrot talking with the NPCs?
One of the best things of GW are the cinematics, they yet can be slightly better, and this is the thing that would make them like slightly better.

Since I almost always do missions along with just Heroes and henches anyway, I am usually the "star" of all the cutscenes.
On the rare occasions I do a mission with other players, usually they want to skip the cutscene anyway, but if the cutscene is played and if someone else is the "star", I am totally OK with that, since I am the star 99% of the time. Major stars like myself can afford to share the limelight with ... lesser beings ... occasionally.

Yea I'm with OP, the cutscenes are terrible and the NF ones make terrible shots at humor which are really not humorous. I think that the characters in the cutscene should use more body langugae instead of the occasional /yes emote. The other characters in the cutscenes always look like props just standing there without moving or making noise, it's about time they had some involvement.

Random add-on:
If they can make all of our characters participate in cutscenes, can we make them participate in slightly different ways? Like a simple personality choice when you make a character that (partially) determines what NPCs say to you and how you respond. (It wouldn't affect quests, just text lines, and maybe emotions.)

I totaly love this idea, and agree with it completely. It would indeed be great to have at least 2 or 3 people involved in cutscene conversations, and it would not be hard to implement in coding either. Also if its a action or suspensefull cutscene you could still have the remaining characters at least standing at corners of walls or behind trees like they are watching for the enemy or somethin. Make it so that in every cutscene each char has a role even if it is minor.
Just picture a someones ranger toon in the background with an arrow at the ready low position while hes scanning around looking for hostiles, durring the main conversation. Every cutscene would look different for each pty arangement, would be tight imo.

The C3(clan of NWN1 modders, long time ago) guys came up with a great system for something like that once, but due to the amount of work never made a test module of it.
You'd start out with a blank set character, during the game you'd constantly receive multiple dialog responses, all of those pretty much saying the same thing but in different ways.
A2 Rude (only possible sometimes)
A1 Bossy (only possible sometimes)
A Simple
- Normal
B Sophisticated
B1 Complicated (only possible sometimes)
B2 Witty (only possible sometimes)
Starting with a blank for each character you are allowed only to give the - ,A and B responses.
The game counts how often you give either an A or a B response.
When there is a clear preference to either A or B your character personality changes, giving them different roles in the story.
A characters would generally stand in front in cut scenes or order others around. (supposed to go well with paladin and berserker personalities)
B characters would hang back, either act untrustworthy or untrusting of others. (supposed to go well with Rogue and mage personalities)
- characters would play a neutral role, and usually be the ones ordered around. (supposed to go well with warrior and ranger personalities)
(sometimes theres too many characters for 1 role, or not enough; in that case the amount of points someone has towards A or B decides weather they will be left out of a story event or be moved to another role(if all where A characters and a B was needed, the lowest A points takes the B role)
A characters lose the ability to give B responses and gain the ability to give A1 & A2 responses.
B characters lose the ability to give A responses and gain the ability to give B1 & B2 responses.
Using 1 response adds twice the personality points to a side, the 2 response 3 times the points.
Going back becomes harder as you need to consistently give the - response to gain lots of - points over your A or B points gain so you could use both again.
Sometimes a NPC will not like either A or B responses, giving those repeatedly would lead to failed quests or the NPC's attacking you.
But you can always give the - response, which is always good.
Now, to get the players to read the text, it's not marked weather a response is -, A or B and the order would also be scrambled up per conversation.
That way you have to read the text to find what response fits your characters personality, or make sure you don't give the wrong response.
The problem with it was, you have to make 3-7 ways to say the same thing for every conversation!
That is a lot of work, not to mention impossible at times; even though it does wonders for the RP.
I'm sure it would work, but then again, we never tested if it did.
